Breaking the Rules

My neighbor is a musician. We have been hanging out a lot more lately and I told him that I have been learning sound editing programs at school. Today, I brought my computer over and my drums. We have been practicing on a song. We wanted to record it on my computer, using Sound Forge. He has the equipment and I have the software. Well, there was a problem either with the microphone or the way I have my computer set up. I did some troubleshooting and we couldn't figure it out. I will have to ask investigate more about what the problem could be. But that was the first time I tried to record on my computer. We didn't get very far, I was only able to get a really rough recording with the internal microphone on my computer.

Here's another one... My boyfriend came home with a turn table that converts records into mp3's. He brought it home 2 days ago. He couldn't figure it out. He said: "Isn't this what you're in school for?" Well... he doesn't understand that I have not been educated on that particular program that came with the turn table. SO I had to spend a while just getting to know the program. We recorded some Grateful Dead and we had some problems getting the sound to come out of the speakers. I fixed that problem. Then I got a little bored because the program was soooooooo simple it was nothing compared to ProTools. Some of the words were different but he didn't know what I was doing and I was just messing around  -now that I had fixed the problem. He thought I was still trying to fix it. haha.
So I thought I was going to change the pitch and make it go faster to make him laugh... ended up that it was some kind of sound effect. Like a triangle or little symbold... haha ... in the middle of the song. The song was playing and then *ding* then the song resumed. It was not what I was expecting. It made me laugh cause I was cought off guard but he almost freaked because he thought the sound was something recorded off of the record. I got two laughs out of it.
